With respect to its climate, the Sagrada Familia area is characterized as being a sector that has a Mediterranean climate with a dry season.  Rains are concentrated during 6 months of the year and normally there is no rain during the fruit ripening season, (from January to March).  In the summer time, there is a great variation in heat between day and night.  The maximum temperatures during the day sometimes reach 37 °C (99 °F) and the minimum close to 12 °C (54 °F).  This becomes a fundamental aspect for the formation of the compounds that are responsible for the color of the red wines.
